Work with us — HACC Maintenance Worker

This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified role.

The HACC Maintenance Worker provides essential home maintenance services to DWECH clients. The role focuses on ensuring clients’ homes are safe, secure, and conducive to independent living. The Maintenance Worker supports clients by performing minor repairs and gardening tasks, adhering to safety and quality standards.

The HACC Maintenance Worker will also provide these services on DWECH sites as necessary.

Please note that this is a fixed term contract.

DUTIES

  • Carry out gardening tasks including lawn mowing, pruning, and removing trip hazards.
  • Perform general home maintenance tasks, such as minor repairs (e.g., fixing doors, windows, and locks).
  • Address and report any safety hazards or concerns identified during maintenance visits.
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and culturally sensitive support to clients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring their needs and preferences are considered.
  • Respond to client queries and feedback regarding maintenance work, escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including maintenance tasks performed, materials used, and time spent at each home.
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, using appropriate safety equipment and procedures.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of clients, particularly when operating tools and equipment.
  • Work effectively within a team, collaborating with case managers, coordinators, and other service providers to deliver comprehensive care for clients.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in home maintenance, handyman, or similar roles desirable.
  • Knowledge of common tools, equipment, and materials used in home repairs and garden maintenance an advantage.
  • Physical fitness and ability to carry out manual tasks, including lifting and bending.
  • Complete a pre-employment medical.
  • National Police Check or the willingness to obtain within employer specified timeframe.
  • Working with Children Check or the willingness to obtain within employer specified timeframe.
  • Must be willing to undertake upskilling and professional development.
  • Annual First Aid and CPR training where the role requires.
  • Emergency Management training where the role requires.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License.
  • Proof of vaccination status consistent with public health orders and with DWECH policy (includes but is not limited to COVID-19 (3) and seasonal influenza vaccination highly recommended).
