About DWECH

Dhauwurd-Wurrung Elderly and Community Health Service is a community-led organisation proudly supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in Portland. Our work is built on cultural safety, respect, connection and a holistic view of health and wellbeing.

From our early beginnings through the strength and advocacy of local Elders, DWECH has grown into a trusted service that supports Community through healthcare, social and emotional wellbeing, home and community care, and culturally appropriate programs. Everything we do is guided by our commitment to self-determination, community control, and creating better outcomes for current and future generations.

Western District ACCHO Collective

The Western District ACCO Collective (WDAC) is a regional governance body comprising eight Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) across Victoria's Western District. Formed in 2023, WDAC strengthens Aboriginal self-determination through collaboration, advocacy and Community-led leadership.

Together, WDAC member organisations provide holistic services to Aboriginal Communities, employ more than 800 staff, including over 500 Aboriginal employees, and contribute significant social and economic investment into regional Victoria. The Collective works to ensure Aboriginal voices lead decision-making, advocate for equitable funding, and support solutions that address the ongoing impacts of colonisation and systemic racism.

As a proud member of WDAC, DWECH is committed to working alongside fellow ACCOs to create stronger outcomes for Aboriginal families, Communities and future generations.
